My experience started as an Art Director working in ad agencies, PR firms, and eventually I ran my own successful graphic design firm. I further honed my skills teaching college-level marketing & design classes, learning to explain the rules that go into good design. I climbed more than a few mountains… working on websites, email blasts, online ads, direct mail, brochures, banners, signage, annual reports, postcards, and print ads, thinking strategically, integrating the results, while navigating the various requirements in web and print.
I get there on my own two feet, meaning I do the work myself. This makes me ideal for small clients with big ambitions.
I’ve worked in this field a long time and learned that great design requires innovation combined with strategic messaging and an awareness of your audience. Boiled down, it’s a mix of these four ingredients… a checklist of every great design.
01. CAPTURE ATTENTION.
02. DETERMINE PRIORITY.
03. CONVEY INFORMATION.
04. EVOKE EMOTION.

Fundraising- a science that requires art and is measured in results. I began working with the Mercer Island Schools Foundation in 2002. It had become clear that public school districts needed more than government funding could provide so I provided advertising and marketing help. Back then, their fundraising efforts were stalled at approximately $500,000 annually; money that went to curriculum, textbooks, computers, enrichment, and programs. I continue to help students and teachers through the Mercer Island Schools Foundation.
